Four Seasons' "Creeks of Lake Gaston" signature collection sold by David and Gwen Jones (A Pot of Gold) located at the Lake Gaston Flea Market pavilion (inside).
The newest attraction in the area is Rosemont Vineyards & Winery. In fact, we can personally vouch for all of the reds - they are exceptional. The whites are nice too - we just happen to be "red wine folks". The wine-tasting experience and general ambience feel like being in Napa! The grapes for all of their wines come from the Rosemont Vineyard. To get to the vineyard and winery, you will pass it on the way to J B Jones Store - about 1 miles off 903 from the Tanglewood Shores intersection.. The Rose family has done a remarkable job creating something very wonderful and exciting.
The Pointe at Lake Gaston - south end of Eaton's Ferry Bridge. Great new addition to the Lake Gaston lakeside dining scene.
Award-winning Mary Sherwood Lake Living Lifestyles is a very cool local business to shop for home and personal accessories, inspiring design ideas, and design services. Great year-round resource with special events tuned to the season..
The Kennon House Restaurant located is a historic landmark for the area (in Gasburg, VA) is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere ("upscale comfort food with a special touch" complemented with weekend specials). Takes about 15 minutes to drive there from Eaton's Ferry Bridge. They can handle large groups in private dining areas - call ahead to arrange. They also have an outstanding buffet for Sunday lunch/afternoon and Saturday night - and "grand Sunday buffet" for special seasonal occasions. If you've not been there, please put it on your radar.
Of course, your visit to Lake Gaston would not be complete without visiting Virginia and crew at Ebony General country store - located n Ebony, VA - 10 miles east of I-85 Exit 4 (Bracey) on 903 and 8 miles west/north from Eaton's Ferry Bridge on 903. Famous for their hot dogs, chicken salad, barbeque, and hand-dipped ice cream while you marvel at everthing else in the store! Also excellent source for old fashioned aged cheddar cheese cut from the wheel -- one of our favorites with Murray's old fashioned ginger snaps.
From Ebony General, take Robinson Ferry Road north about 1/4 mile to Homestead Antiques and Garden Shop -- family owned and operated by Patrica and Bob Conner -- just opened in 2008. (Mostly weekend hours - call ahead to confirm 434-636-2025.) Serious "antique-ers" are encouraged to visit. All who stop in will be amazed at the lifelong collection and presentation - and really enjoy your time with Patricia, Rudy, and others who may be visiting when you do.
If your plans call for specialty cakes and bakery items, then there is no better place anywhere than J B Jones Store and Bakery located off 903 between I-85 (Bracey exit) and Ebony VA - turn onto Blackridge Road at Tangelwood Shores and continue for about 2 miles. Custom decorated cakes, a huge variety of layer cakes, pies, cookies, homemade rolls, and great ham biscuits (in bulk for parties). Barner's Nursery and Gift/Garden Shop is right next door as well.
Brunswick Mineral Springs Bed and Breakfast located in Burnswick County, VA (near Lawrenceville and about 40 minutes from Lake Gaston) is arguably one of the best B&B's in the country! We had the pleasure of staying there recently in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. Nan and Dave could not have been better Inn Keepers. The house, grounds, and salt water pool are fabulous. And yes - a superb breakfast! You won't want to leave.
